The metallurgical industry celebrates its professional holiday "Day of the Metallurgist"at Alcomet

The traditional celebration of the professional holiday of the metallurgical industry "Day of the Metallurgist" was hosted by Alcomet AD, also marking 20 years of sustainable company development.

 "Bulgaria provides 16.5% of the anode copper, 8.5% of the refined copper, 6% of the lead and 4% of the zinc produced in the European Union," Anton Petrov, Chairman of the Board of BAMI, noted in his welcome speech. The Bulgarian metallurgical industry manufactured products worth BGN 10.2 billion and has a share of 14% from Bulgaria's total exports over the past year. More than 13,000 people are directly employed in the sector, the average wage in ferrous metallurgy being around 1700 leva and in the non-ferrous industry it is close to 2000 leva. The value added per person is about three times higher than the average in manufacturing.

Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and many guests - diplomats, MPs, heads of metallurgical companies, representatives of business organizations and partners, trade unions and others also attended the event.

Traditionally, certificates and money prizes were given to distinguished students from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, the Technical University and the University of Shoumen.

Congratulations form a number of state institutions, employers' organizations and business partners were sent to BAMI and Alcomet.
