‘Clean energy and industrial competitiveness for sustainable development’ Conference was held on April 11, 2018 in Sofia

The Bulgarian Association of Metallurgical Industry (BAMI) together with the Bulgarian Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers (BFIEC) and the Bulgarian Chamber of Chemical Industry (BCCI) organized one of the important events for the energy within the framework of the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU - the Conference Clean energy and industrial competitiveness for sustainable development’.

The event is organised under the patronage and with the participation of the Ministry of Energy and with the support of the Ministry of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Conference participated representatives of the EC, of the Bulgarian authorities, members of Parliament, business representatives.

The conference was opened by Ms Temenuzhka Petkova - Minister for Energy and Mr. Hans Van Steen Energy Directorate General of the EC. 

Within the first panel presentations made Mr. Stankov - Deputy-minister for Energy, Mr. M. Mensink – CEFIC, Mr. A. Eggert – EUROFER, Mr. Cillian O’Donoghue – EUROMETAUX, on topics dedicated to the EU policies and align with the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency, with impact on the competitiveness of the EU industry and especially on the basic industries:

-      Clean energy for all Europeans package

-      Energy and global competitiveness of EU industry

-      Low-carbon and competitive EU industry

The second panel of the conference was dedicated to the Bulgarian energy and its important role for the industry development of the country towards competitiveness:

-      Integrated and fully liberalized energy market

-      Role of gas in decarbonisation

-      Security of energy supply – local resources, interconnectivity and    

 resource adequacy

Leading companies operating in Bulgaria presented top achievements and best practices in implementing technologies and solutions for decarbonisation, energy efficiency and energy communities.
